Vietnam Wooden Boat Foundation


Dedicated to preserving the maritime history of Vietnam with an emphasis on the art, craft, lore, and history of traditional Vietnamese wooden boat building. 


Mission of the Foundation (from Articles of Incorporation)

 

 

  • To research, collect, record, translate and preserve current and historical information on the country of Vietnam’s maritime legacy.
  • Document the skills and achievements of traditional Vietnamese boat builders through videotape, photography, and interviews.
  • Produce and publish documentary videos, books, magazines, and/or other educational and vocational training products on Vietnam maritime subjects and make the results available to the public.
  • Purchase a variety of Vietnamese traditional boats for display to the public in the U.S.
  • Build and equip a maritime heritage museum in Vietnam for the people of Vietnam, a place where the Vietnamese people can take pride in their maritime history and grow its contents further through their own efforts.
  • Disseminate information to and provide educational opportunities for its members and the public, through seminars, exhibits, lecturers, the internet, TV,  and other reasonable means.
